International Sanskrit Examination Resource
Starting from the beginning
The systematic practice afforded by all of these books helps a student to become familiar with paradigms and vocabulary in a story context. This makes study fairly easy and simultaneously develops language and translation skills.
Sanskrit is Fun, books 1, 2 & 3: (£7.50 each)
These are introductory books containing work on the Sanskrit alphabet and simple word recognition. Alphabet playing cards are also available at £4.50 per pack.
The Stories of Krishna, parts 1 & 2: (£10.00 each)
These books start to build on the knowledge gained previously. Nouns, verbs, adjectives etc are introduced and a beginning is made on the system of cases and the understanding of simple sentences. Simple stories in Sanskrit are based upon the traditional childhood stories of Krishna. Playful exercises are also included to allow for practice and testing of knowledge.
Once you have a basic grounding, the following will be helpful:
The Stories of Rama, parts 1 & 2: (£10.00 each)
The full case system of paradigms is dealt with and appropriate grammar is introduced in a gradual manner. A more sophisticated level of story-telling, based on the Ramayana, is now enjoyed, together with helpful exercises. This study also provides helpful background for the Option A examination.
All of these books may be purchased through St James Publishing at stjamespublishing@stjamesschools.co.uk
